When you enable Chat Lock, a chat thread will be moved from the app’s usual onscreen inbox to a new folder that can only be accessed with a password or a biometric, such as facial recognition or a fingerprint. Chat Lock will also encrypt the new folder.

Chat Lock, which was developed by Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, will protect “your most intimate conversations” and block alerts from those talks. Meta referred to this feature as “one more layer of security.”

Meta provides its users with the opportunity to encrypt their backups, disable the ability to take screenshots, and have their communications vanish on their own automatically as part of its suite of privacy-enhancing features.

He remarked, “With the new locked chats in WhatsApp, your conversations will be kept more confidential.” They are concealed behind a folder that requires a password to access, and the notifications won’t reveal the sender or the substance of the message.
