    Opening of BECE 2026 Candidates School Selection Portal

    The School Selection Portal would be opened by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for both BECE 2026 School and Private Candidates to enable them select their schools online for 2026 Placement.

     

    The exercise will commence in the month of May through to July, 2026.

     

    In order to do the exercise faster and efficiently. Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education are to form teams of ICT Teachers/Data Entry Officers to support the Examination Coordinators and Headteachers do the entries of the candidates’ choices.

    This will help avoid errors in the entries from the schools.

     

    Candidates and parents/guardians are to be invited to confirm the correctness of their choices before finalisation.

    Private BECE Candidates are to visit select their Second Cycle Schools using their Index Number and Date of Birth as login ID and password respectively.

    CSSPS 2026 School Selection Forms Guidelines

    1. Candidates must select eight (8) schools in total, made up of:
    – Six (6) main choices
    – Two (2) alternative choices

    2. The six (6) main schools must be arranged in order of preference:
    – The first choice must be the most preferred school
    – The first Category A school should be the most preferred

    3. The two (2) alternative schools will be selected from Appendix “3” and will only be considered if the candidate is not placed in any of the main choices

    4. Candidates must choose programmes according to the following:
    – Three (3) boarding schools
    – Three (3) day schools

    5. Candidates must select:
    – One day and one boarding school from Category A
    – One day and one boarding school from Category B
    – One day and one boarding school from Category C

                   Important Notes
    1. A school selected by a candidate cannot be changed after submission.

    2. Candidates can select up to two (2) schools from Category A: one (1) boarding and one (1) day school.

    3. Candidates can select up to two (2) schools from Category B: one (1) boarding and one (1) day school.

    4. Candidates may select all six (6) schools from Category C: three (3) boarding and three (3) day schools.

    5. Candidates who wish to offer purely TVET programmes must select only TVET institutions from Categories A, B, and C, using the selection criteria above.

    6. Candidates who wish to pursue career-oriented programmes such as Engineering, Medicine, Physical Sciences, Aviation, Astronomy, etc., are encouraged to select STEM/Science programmes in all five (5) choices from Categories A, B, and C as either day or boarding

    Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education are to ensure effective supervision and monitoring for a successful completion of the exercise.

    GES: Study Leave with Pay New Conditions, Eligibility, Requirement and All Application Letters

    The Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to bring to the notice of its eligible employees the approved subject areas for Study Leave With Pay for 2024 academic year.

    In line with the GES. Study Leave With Pay policy, employees of the service should satisfy the following conditions to qualify for the award of Study Leave With Pay.

    Conditions for the Grant of Study Leave With Pay

    1. The minimum number of years to serve before qualifying for the grant of Study Leave With Pay is 3 (three) years of satisfactory service. A beneficiary of Study Leave With Pay shall be bonded for the number of years served at the Institution plus one (1) year.

    2. An applicant (staff of GES) who has served in a designated deprived area for Two (2) years may be eligible for consideration for the grant of Study Leave With Pay.
    3. Non-Professional graduate teachers should have served for at least one (1) year before being eligible for any of the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) course.

    4. Staff of the Service returning from Secondment must serve a minimum of two (2) years before they become eligible for Study Leave With Pay.

    5. Staff of the Service who vacate, leave the service and are re-appointed/re-engaged must serve a minimum of five (5) years before being eligible for Study Leave With Pay.

    6. A Staff who does not qualify for the grant of Study Leave With Pay in the first year cannot apply again in the second year of his/her studies. The Staff must apply for Study Leave Without Pay to pursue the course.

    7. A Staff who is eligible for Study Leave With Pay must have a minimum of two (2) years to serve after the course. For example, a Staff who is Fifty-Five (55) years and above cannot apply for Study Leave With Pay to pursue a course that lasts Four (4) years or more. He/She can, however, apply to pursue courses that have a duration/between One (1) and Two (2) years.

    8. A Staff shall be eligible for Study Leave With Pay subject to the following:

    a) Good conduct and performance
    Recommendation by immediate supervisor.

    How to Apply for Study Leave With Pay:

    1. Applicants should obtain application forms from the Metro/Municipal/District Education Offices.

    2. Applicants should complete application forms (4 copies), attach certified true copies of certificate(s).

    3. Applications should be submitted to the applicant’s Regional Director through the Metro/Municipal/District Director/Head of Institution (2nd Cycle).

    Deadline for Application

    4. The Regional/District Directors should ensure that the list of all fully qualified beneficiaries reach the Acting Director, Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD) GES Headquarters by Thursday, 31 October, 2024.
