The National Executive Council, the Regional Executives Board and all relevant stakeholders, Ministry of Finance authorised the distribution of one hundred and seventy-seven million Ghana cedis (GH¢177 million) to trainee nurses across the country.
This amount was to guarantee that unpaid obligation owed to the trainees is settled but this amount was not enough to cover all the unpaid allowance arrears.
The Ministry of Health got only GH¢177 million from the Controller in order to pay trainee allowances for nurses.

The West African Examinations Council is pleased to announce that the provisional results for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both School and Private Candidates, 2024 have been issued.
Scripts of 22,270 candidates are being scrutinized for mass cheating in certain subjects. Results could be released or cancelled.
STATISTICS There were a total of 600,900 students from 18,993 schools that registered to take the standardised test—300,404 men and 300,496 females. How to Check Your BECE Results 2024
This number accounts for 53 applicants who have a visual impairment, 366 applicants who have a hearing disability, and 54 applicants who have additional special educational needs.
The West African Examinations Council (the Council) wishes to inform its numerous publics that it has released provisional results of candidates who sat for the BECE for both School and Private Candidates, 2024. The Council will despatch the results of school candidates to their respective schools through the Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education. The results for Private Candidates can be accessed at the Council’s website www.waecgh.org.
School candidates who so desire, may also access their results online at the Council’s website.
STATISTICS ON 2024 BECE
A total of 569,236 candidates, comprising 282,703 males and 286,533 females from nineteen thousand, five hundred and five (19,505) participating schools entered for the school examination. This includes fifty-nine (59) candidates with visual impairment, two hundred and sixty-three (263) with hearing impairment and one hundred and sixty-one (161) candidates with other test accommodation needs. The examination was conducted at Two thousand, one hundred and twenty-three (2,123) centres across the country. Out of the total number, three thousand, eight hundred and forty-five (3,845) candidates were absent
The BECE for Private Candidates recorded a total entry figure of one thousand, three hundred and ninety (1,390) candidates. This was made up of seven hundred and fifty (750) males and six hundred and forty (640) females. Fifteen (15) centres, mostly in the regional capitals, were used for the BECE for Private Candidates.
Out of the total number of candidates who entered for the examination, fifty-seven (57) were absent.
Following the completion of investigations into several cases of irregularity detected during the conduct of the examination and marking of scripts, the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee for the BECE at its 35th Meeting held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 approved as follows:
Cancellation of Subject Results of 377 school candidates and 3 private. candidates for the offence of bringing foreign materials into the examination hall or colluding with other candidates;
Cancellation of Entire Results of 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate;
Withholding of Entire Results of 33 school candidates and 3 private candidates;
Meanwhile, some subject results of candidates from 149 schools have been withheld for reported irregularities. The withheld results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations.
CAUTION TO PUBLIC
The Council wishes to caution all stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated.

Education, Ghana Education Service, the Security Agencies, Heads of Schools,

The Commission wishes to inform the General Public that in view of the Mop- Up Voter Registration Exercise slated for the 1″ to the 3rd of August 2024, the Exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register has been rescheduled to take place from the 20th to the 27th of August 2024.
Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations at the Commission, stated yesterday in Accra at a news conference that this is a part of the preparation towards the holding of the district level elections scheduled for Tuesday. During the entire duration of the exercise, the exhibition exercise begins at 7am in the morning and continues until 6pm in the evening. Potential voters will be able to verify their facts, such as name, age, sex, and other information, as acquired during the registration exercise. District Registration Review Officers, who are District Court Magistrates, have been appointed in all 268 districts to receive the provisional voters registers and other lists and forms containing complaints and objections that were raised by voters during the exhibition exercise from the District Officer.
These complaints and objections were raised by voters during the exhibition exercise. District Registration Review Officers will then make a determination on each of the cases, endorse each page of the register to authenticate it, and return everything to the District Officer.
It is recommended to voters that they bring their voter identification cards with them to the exposition centres in order to verify their details. Additionally, registered voters who did not bring along their Voter ID Cards can also verify their details at these locations.
Verify Voter ID for a Friend People are also permitted to verify the voter details of a relative or acquaintance; but, in the absence of the card’s owner, it is not possible to request that any modifications be made to the voter information.
Change of Details of Voter ID In order to make significant changes or corrections, such as a full name change for a voter or the addition of new names, a change in the polling station code, a change of photographs, or the addition of names that were left off the voter’s registration, the voter is required to go to the District Office of the Commission for a biometric authentication of the voter before the change can be made. This must be done before the change is made.
He stated that in order to maintain the integrity of the process, those who accompanied registered voters who were unable to vote due to a physical disability would be permitted to visit the exhibition centres, as would those who were accredited by the Commission. This would include party members, journalists, and observers.
