Payment of Allowance Arrears To Nursing Trainees-2024 Updates

The National Executive Council, the Regional Executives Board and all relevant stakeholders, Ministry of Finance authorised the distribution of one hundred and seventy-seven million Ghana cedis (GH¢177 million) to trainee nurses across the country.

This amount was to guarantee that unpaid obligation owed to the trainees is settled but this amount was not enough to cover all the unpaid allowance arrears.

The Ministry of Health got only GH¢177 million from the Controller in order to pay trainee allowances for nurses.

Kindly be informed, the national president of Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association ( Hon. Amebley Kwame Jnr) visited the Ministry of Health for a follow up within this week.

On discussion pertaining to Rotational Nurse and Midwives, keen attention was given to Financial clearance, Student Allowance and among coded others.

Report on our desk indicates that the student allowance has been approved by the ministry (as promised by the vice president H.E Dr. Bawumia) and it would go through thorough checks until disbursed through Controller and Accountant General Department.

Currently, students campus are paid awaiting the 2022/23 batches respectively.

We therefore encourage all and sundry to remain calm and resolute on the issues pertaining to the student allowance.

The Minister pledged the continued dedication of the ministry to address the concerns raised of trainee Nurses and Midwives.
