After winning a significant amount of money through betting on sports, David Ochieng, a preacher in Uganda, decided to walk away from his vocation as a result.

According to accounts from the local media, he won 100 million UGX, which is equivalent to ($26,588.553 or ₵27,028.15 or N21 million), and decided to close his church, which has left the congregation’s members in a state of disbelief and confusion.

When he found out that he was now a hundred million shillings wealthier, he shut down the building and abandoned the members of his congregation who had come for the midweek service.

When contacted, the clergyman admitted that the reason he chose to labor in the vineyard of God was not because he was called to do so but rather because it was the only way for him to make enough money to support himself and his family.

Ochieng went on to describe the victory as a blessing from God and a quick means to pull him out of the poverty he was in at the time.
