GES Announces New Academic Calendar 2024/2025 For KG/Primary/JHS

Management wishes to inform all staff of the 2024/2025 Academic Calendar for all Schools (Junior High Schools/Primary Schools/Kindergarten).

Regional Directors are by this letter directed to ensure that Heads of Schools in their respective regions take note of the provisions in the attached calendar and comply accordingly to facilitate a smooth running of the academic year.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the academic calendar for 2024/2025. Here are the key dates for the academic year:

Term One(1)
– Start Date: September 10, 2024
– Mid-Term Break: None
– Public Holidays: Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day (September 21, 2024)
– Special Events: World Teachers Day (October 5, 2024), World Children’s Day (November 20, 2024)
– End-of-Term Vacation Date: December 20, 2024 – January 7, 2025
– Total Weeks in Session: 15 weeks

Term Two(2)
– Start Date: January 8, 2025
– Mid-Term Break: None
– Public Holidays: Good Friday (April 18, 2025), Easter Monday (April 21, 2025)
– Special Celebrations: March Independence Celebration (March 6-7, 2025)
– End-of-Term Vacation Date: April 17, 2025
– Break Period: April 18, 2025 – May 5, 2025
– Total Weeks in Session: 15 weeks

Term Three(3)
– Start Date: May 6, 2025
– Mid-Term Break: None
– Public Holidays: 1st May (2025), African Union Day (May 25, 2025), Eid-ul Adha (June 7, 2025)
– End-of-Term Vacation Date: July 24, 2025
– Vacation Period: 32 days (from July 24, 2025, to September 7, 2025)
– Term Duration: 12 weeks
– Reopening Date: September 8, 2025
