CAGD: Stoppage of July 2024 Salaries of All Teaching Staff of Colleges of Education
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has requested that the Controller and Accountant General’s department suspend the salaries of all teaching staff members of the Colleges of Education (CETAG) as of July 2024.
With the exception of the College principals whose salaries are unfreeze, in response to the strike actions being undertaken by the staff members over the arbitral and negotiated services.

The government’s failure to initiate talks with the colleges of education’s disgruntled employees over their service conditions which led to their decision to go on strike.
In a letter dated Monday, July 22, GTEC wrote to the Accountant General’s Department to freeze the salaries of all teaching staff.
“At the instance of the Minister of Education on the non-adherence of CETAG members to call off an illegal strike trom June 2024, you are by this letter requested in stop the salaries of all teaching stuff of the Colleges of Education (CETAG) except for the College Principals for July 2024,
By this letter, College Principals are not to validate the July 2024 salaries of all teaching staff. We count on your usual co-operation.”
The Colleges of Education Teachers Association’s leadership, however, has sent out a strong warning, stating that it will fight against any illegality that aims to freeze any member’s salary. CAGD: Stoppage of July 2024 Salaries of All Teaching Staff of Colleges of Education
