WAEC: 2024 BECE Scripts Will Not Be Marked Untill We Get Our Payment
Even though the BECE exams were successfully completed, WAEC declared that it will not start the marking process until the government pays its debts.
Even though the government contributed GHC55.8 million to the 34th BECE’s expenses, WAEC still needs to be paid the remaining balance.
Citing an overdue debt from the government, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a delay in the marking of the scripts for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

John Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, has acknowledged the postponement and emphasised that the marking procedure which includes calling examiner meetings and exchanging scripts cannot start until the entire payment has been received.

“Payment will Fastrack the process and enable us to move forward with the marking and subsequent release of results.” Kapi said.
The Relevant Professional Coordinating Committee (RPCC) will decide the length of the marking procedure and the results’ publication following preliminary coordination meetings, according to WAEC authorities, which raises concerns about the possible impact of this delay on the BECE results timeline.
Five hundred ninety-nine candidates took part in the BECE for School, which ended on July 15. It is anticipated that 1,366 more candidates would take the BECE for Private Candidates. WAEC: 2024 BECE Scripts Will Not Be Marked Untill We Get Our Payment
