Payment of Salary Arrears to Eligible GES Staff

Thousands of teachers and education workers across Ghana have waited patiently for years for the payment of their outstanding salary arrears. For many affected staff under the Ghana Education Service (GES), this issue has not only caused financial hardship but has also affected morale within the education sector.

The payment of salary arrears remains one of the most important concerns among newly recruited teachers, promoted staff, and workers whose salaries were delayed due to administrative challenges.

While several assurances have been given over time, many eligible staff continue to hope for swift action and transparency regarding the release of their funds.

1. Reference is made to the letter BO/CPMU/MoE/2024/FC. Arrears/26/04 from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to the Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD) on the above subject.

 

2. Management of the Ghana Education Service hereby informs all Regional Directors that approval has been granted by the Ministry of Finance for the payment of salary arrears by CAGD to eligible staff of GES from 1 August 2024 to November 2025.

 

3. The accruing arrears are to be paid in five (5) instalments per the schedule below:

August                   4 months

4. You are kindly requested to promptly convey this information to all Heads of Schools, to ensure that all eligible staff are duly informed accordingly.
