NMC: Postponement of Licensing Exams August 2025

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (N&MC) of Ghana has officially announced a significant change in the schedule for the August 2025 Licensing Examinations.

This decision comes after a crucial meeting with the Minister of Health, where it was agreed that the number of examination centers would be increased.

The primary goal of this expansion is to provide candidates with the convenience of taking their exams at their respective training institutions, thereby enhancing the overall examination experience.

In light of this development, training institutions are kindly requested to take on specific responsibilities to ensure the smooth execution of the examinations. These responsibilities include:

1. Providing Accommodation for Assigned Invigilators: Institutions are expected to offer suitable accommodation for the invigilators who will be overseeing the examinations. This will enable the invigilators to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.

2. Offering Meals to Invigilators: Institutions are also required to provide meals for the invigilators during the examination period. This gesture is aimed at ensuring the comfort and well-being of the invigilators while they carry out their responsibilities.

3. Arranging Transportation for Invigilators When Necessary: In cases where invigilators may need assistance with transportation to and from the examination centers, institutions are expected to make the necessary arrangements. This will help to ensure that invigilators arrive at the examination centers punctually and without any inconvenience.

4. Ensuring the Availability of Functional Computers, UPS Systems, CCTV Cameras, and Standby Generators: Institutions are required to ensure that they have an adequate number of functional computers, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, CCTV cameras, and standby generators. This is crucial for maintaining the integrity and security of the examination process.

As a result of these changes, the August 2025 Licensing Examinations, which were initially scheduled to commence on August 26, 2025, have been postponed to 4th September 2025. The Nursing and Midwifery Council will announce a new start date in due course, and all stakeholders will be duly informed.

The N&MC greatly appreciates the cooperation and support of all institutions in implementing this initiative. By working together, the council aims to improve the examination process for candidates, ensuring that it is more efficient, secure, and conducive to a fair assessment of their knowledge and skills.
