Examinations leading to certification as Nurse Assistants, Nurses, and Midwives are administered under the auspices of the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The Examination Unit is in charge of receiving applications from those who are interested in participating in the licensing examinations.

The Examination Unit is also responsible for coordinating the production of test items, obtaining testing centers, identifying invigilators and examiners, evaluating examination scripts, and publishing results. NMC Time Table for 2025 Licensing Examinations
Those applicants who are successful in passing the licensing examination will be given a Professional Identification Number (PIN) in addition to a certificate of registration. NMC Time Table for 2025 Licensing Examinations
Those who participate in Auxiliary programs are given a certificate of registration and an Auxiliary Identification Number (AIN).
Who are eligible candidates?
Candidates who meet the following requirements will be allowed to take the licensure examinations:
Successfully completed the required theoretical instructions as stipulated in the rules and regulations for each training programme.
Successfully completed the required clinical experiences as stipulated in the rules and regulations for each training programme.
Passed the examination conducted by the college.
Attained satisfactory performance in clinical nursing.
Paid the stipulated examination fee for the particular examination.
What happens when one fails the licensing examination?
Candidates who fail Council’s examinations are allowed to re-write until they pass. This means that there is no limit on the number of re-sits.
NEW SCHEDULE FOR BASIC AND AUXILIARY PRACTICAL & ONLINE (MCQs) LICENSING EXAMINATIONS: BASIC (RGN, RM, RMN, RCMN, RPHΝ, PNNM & RPEAD) AUXILIARY (NAC & NAP)
Reference is made to the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (N&MC) letter to you referenced N&MC/PUB/25/003 dated January 27, 2025 on the above subject.
Pursuant to the above, the N&MC presents the final schedule for the Licensing Examinations (LE) under reference as per the attached Time Table.
Candidates are required to pay Gh¢13.00 for checking of results in addition to the approved LE fees at any branch of ADB or GCB bank. Vouchers will be issued after payment at the bank for Candidates to update their profiles on the portal from March 3-14, 2025.
Institutions that have already paid their LE fees will be provided with the vouchers for their Candidates.
Registration for Candidates to select their preferred Examination Center will begin from March 15-23, 2025.
