On Thursday, officers from the Suhum District Police Command in the Eastern Region broke into the palace of the Amanase chief in order to gather fresh human remains as well as skeletons that were being kept at the palace.

It was alleged that the bodies and skeletons had been kept at the palace for two years by the Gyaasehene, Nana Addo Agyekum, who is now the regent of Amanase, after being exhumed from the royal cemetery. The royal cemetery has since been sold off to an investor for the purpose of reconstruction.

According to sources cited by DAILY GUIDE, the excavated bodies included those of certain long-deceased Amanase chiefs and certain royals. It was recently claimed that the presence of these bodies within the palace caused a commotion when some members of the royal family discovered them there.

Following the arrest of the Gyaasehene, who was then required to provide a statement regarding the incident, this led to the Suhum police, commanded by the Crime Officer, ASP Yeboah Oscar, storming the palace in order to reclaim the bodies and skeletons after having first arrested the Gyaasehene.

The door to the room where the exhumed victims had been packed was forcibly opened after a few minutes of back and forth with the Gyaasehene and some of his sub-chiefs. The human remains were then repacked into six bags labelled “Ghana must go” while some rituals were being performed in the background.

The Gyaasehene, Obenfo Addo Agyekum, stated to the media that the bodies were unearthed following the sale of the cemetery to an investor. He also mentioned that a community durbar was held prior to the exhumation of the bodies. Fresh Human Parts And Skeletons Retrieved From A Palace-PHOTOS

He claimed that the exhumation was carried out in order to make way for the investor to develop the region, and that they needed land in order to rebury the deceased but were unable to secure it. He also stated that the investor was the one who ordered the exhumation.

The proprietor of the Titi-Atenpong Herbal Centre, Addo Agyekum, revealed that they had two fresh bodies that they carried to the Suhum Government Hospital, but they were only able to bury one of them; the other is still at the mortuary. Addo Agyekum stated that they were unable to bury both of the victims that they had brought there.

Meanwhile, there were reports that the deceased Nifahene and one Oheneba’s bodies were being held in a certain chamber at the blind side of Amanase’s chief, Osaberima Asamoah Asare I. Although Asare I is still alive, he is unable to carry out his duties due to his elderly age. The room in question is located at the blind side of the chief.

An source claims that the chief has been experiencing bizarre nightmares and hearing the sound of drums thumping during the night. Fresh Human Parts And Skeletons Retrieved From A Palace-PHOTOS
