MOH Announces More Mop Up Recruitment Exercise for More Health Professionals
There is renewed hope for thousands of unemployed health professionals across Ghana following a major announcement made by the Ministry of Health (MOH) during a recent press conference.
According to the Ministry, a special mop-up recruitment exercise will soon be opened to allow more qualified health professionals to secure recruitment slots, particularly into Teaching Hospitals and Psychiatric Hospitals across the country.
The announcement has already generated excitement among many nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, and mental health workers who have been anxiously waiting for another opportunity to enter the public health sector.

For many graduates, this development comes as a huge relief after months and for some, years of waiting for financial clearance and recruitment opportunities.
During the press briefing, health officials acknowledged the growing staffing demands within major referral and specialized healthcare facilities, especially in areas requiring specialized care and emergency response.
Teaching hospitals and psychiatric hospitals continue to play a critical role in Ghana’s healthcare delivery system, serving as:
✅ Referral centers
✅ Training institutions
✅ Specialized treatment facilities
✅ Emergency care hubs
However, many of these institutions continue to face staffing shortages despite increasing patient numbers and healthcare demands.
The mop-up exercise is therefore expected to help bridge some of these workforce gaps while giving additional qualified professionals the chance to contribute to Ghana’s healthcare system.
Many health workers have welcomed the announcement, particularly those who were not captured during previous recruitment exercises.
Across social media, hopeful applicants are already preparing documents, updating credentials, and closely monitoring official MOH platforms for further directives.
Some professionals are especially optimistic because the exercise is expected to focus on specialized institutions where skilled personnel are urgently needed. MOH Announces More Mop Up Recruitment Exercise for More Health Professionals
